SORA Technology’s Initiative Featured in KPMG AZSA Impact Evaluation Report
SORA Technology Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Japan; Founder & CEO: Yosuke Kaneko; hereafter “SORA Technology”), which provides advanced drone and AI solutions across public health, agriculture, and climate resilience, is pleased to announce that its malaria control initiative has been featured in a report published by KPMG AZSA LLC titled “The Future of Healthcare Enabled by Impact Investing: Toward Policy-Linked Impact Measurement.”
This report was developed as part of a research initiative led by KPMG Japan’s Healthcare & Well-being team, aimed at enhancing the ability of companies to articulate and measure the social impact generated through their business activities.
Within the report, SORA Technology’s Larval Source Management (LSM) initiative—demonstrated in Ghana—is presented as a case study.
SORA Technology’s LSM approach is an innovative method that utilizes drone-based aerial mapping to identify target areas, followed by AI analysis of data collected by drones and sensors to detect high-risk mosquito breeding sites. The solution then supports targeted larvicide application to those high-risk water bodies.
Results from the pilot trial in Ghana showed that, compared to conventional labor-intensive LSM approaches, personnel costs for locating breeding sites and applying larvicides were reduced by approximately 50% in small-scale areas and approximately 75% in large-scale areas. Additionally, the monthly volume of larvicide applied was reduced by around 50%. These findings indicate that, even after taking into account the additional costs of drone operations and image analysis, SORA Technology’s solution delivers cost-saving benefits for LSM implementation.
The report also highlights that, from the perspective of investors seeking to generate genuine social impact, SORA Technology’s solution is a preferable investment compared to conventional LSM methods. However, it also notes that it remains difficult at this stage to determine which initiative generates greater impact – such as between SORA Technology’s LSM and other malaria control initiatives such as the distribution of mosquito nets, and therefore to determine which should be prioritized for investment. As one possible approach to enabling impact investors to make informed decisions in the future, the report emphasizes the importance of visualizing the degree of contribution to policy objectives set by governments and international organizations.
In December 2025, SORA Technology published its first “Impact Report 2025 (Beta Version) (Link),” outlining the initial social and economic contributions of its solutions across countries where it operates. Moving forward, SORA Technology will continue to systematically visualize the social and economic impact of its business activities, aligned with the malaria control strategies of governments and international partners. SORA Technology will also further enhance impact indicators incorporating cost-effectiveness, and continue to provide transparent disclosures to support decision-making by a wide range of stakeholders.
